“I’ve never had so many home-cooked meals in my life,” she said. “It’s like having extra sets of grandparents.” It’s easy to assume things, especially when you’re a teenager who is still figuring out the way of the world. This teen, however, had no choice but to learn firsthand how it would be to live around elderly people when she mistakenly moved into a senior living complex.
This is hilarious and heartwarming all in one!
When 19-year-old, Madison Kohout, moved her life to Arkansas, she never imagined she’d be living in a senior living complex but that’s exactly what happened
Madison has been on her own since she was just 17-years-old, facing many hurdles and obstacles that many people that young never have to deal with. When she met, Lori Parker, through TikTok, it was like a godsend, and the two quickly developed a mother-daughter type relationship.
After hearing that it had been some time since Madi Ann spent thanksgiving with family, Mrs. Parker invited her to come to spend the holiday in Piggott, Arkansas, with her family. That plan didn’t end up working so they connected in February and the friendship grew even more.
After the time they spent together solidified their deep bond, Mrs. Parker suggested Madison move to Piggott to be closer to her and her family
That’s when Madison moved to Piggott and began looking for apartments, but the information on places there was somewhat limited. In her search for a place to live, Madison came across one that she loved, so she decided to go with it even though she hadn’t been there.
She was able to get the senior living apartment because it is actually an equal opportunity housing which means they don’t discriminate for age even though it was designed for senior citizens.
Once she moved in Madison started to realize something peculiar, no one else in her complex was under 65-years-old
It wasn’t until she was all settled in that Madison realized what she had done, and when she did she took to TikTok to give her followers a good laugh. The mistake ended up being more of a blessing, as Madison got to know her new neighbors.
“I was looking around at my surroundings to see what there was I could do here, and I saw the sign that said ‘Senior Living Apartments,’ and I realized I moved myself into a retirement community,” said Madison, she went on to say: “Once I saw the sign, all the things clicked. I was like, ‘Oh, my goodness, I can’t believe I did this.’”
The 19-year-old nursing assistant began sharing parts of her new life in the senior living complex with her TikTok followers
Not only does she like hanging out with her older neighbors for their great company and awesome stories, but she also gets home-cooked meals on the regular now which is a huge plus in anyone’s book.
